"N8" Shimizu, sole proprietor, DJ wrangler and coordinator of Nitrous Oxide
Entertainment, has created a truly independent record label designed to
nurture the West Coast jungle scene. The home of underground legends Oscar
da Grouch and R.A.W. as well as up-and-comer Crylic, N2O offers an outlet
for those of us who can't travel to California on a regular basis or find
the right warehouse when we get there.

The future of the underground sound: analog or digital?
N8:
I do not think it will be one or the other but both, [making] the underground
sound as thick as possible...moving the people and shooting from the speaker
cabinets like angled bass beams from random directions.

With the latest technologies available -- faster processors, software,
CD burners -- do you think there will be more homebound DJs spinnin'?
N8:
Yes, the "bedroom" DJs will explode and will end up being more experimental
than well-known DJs because they have no critics. They will probably be
the primary users of digital sampling and recording equipment and analog
processors and keyboards. Also, Internet radio is going to spawn from bedrooms
and garages: bugged-out shows from around the world using samplers, turntables,
mixers, live instruments and even audio clips from VHS tapes.
